If the renter does not have proof of CDW coverage, it can be purchased at the counter for 25usd/day.
If the customer does not have proof of own liability coverage, the vehicle cannot be rented.
Deductible (Excess) Reimbursement Policies
If you purchase the Deductible (Excess) Reimbursement Policy from a third party, the credit card holder will be required to present their credit card at the rental desk in order for the rental agent to authorize the deposit.
Deductible (Excess) insurance policies purchased from a third party are usually reimbursement policies. This means customers are liable for full value of the vehicle on their booking and must pay the deposit/preauthorization amount.
In the unlikely event that damage occurs, customers are required to pay U-Save for all damages to the vehicle incurred and loss of use and will be able to claim for reimbursement of their costs through the policy purchased from the third party. | | CLEANING | | Our cars are 100% smoke free. We will require a security deposit to be preauthorized on the credit card of the primary renter. A preauthorization is the method by which a deposit authorization is held and not transacted as a sale: the funds must be available in the account but will not be withdrawn. The amount will not be available to the account holder until released by their bank. The period until the funds are released is usually between 5 and 15 days after the rental return but can be longer depending on the type of card and country of issue.
Damages to the windows, mirrors, wheels, tires, undercarriage, engine, clutch, car’s interior, lost keys, towing charges, dead battery and loss of use are not included within the deductible (excess) unless otherwise stated. This list is not comprehensive.

*if using a debit card for rental, deposit will increase to 500usd | | DRIVERS LICENSE | | All renters must be in possession of a valid, original physical drivers license including the photo ID.
Drivers licenses must be in English, Latin or Roman alphabet.
International Driving Permit (IDP) is required when a driving license is not in English, Latin or Roman alphabet.
The renter is solely responsible to ensure that their license is valid for use in the respective country and to determine whether an IDP is required by local law. Failure to provide a valid license and IDP (as required) will result in a non-refundable termination of the reservation at the rental counter.
In the event that the renter arrives at the rental desk without the necessary documentation, the booking will be cancelled. In these cases, there will be no refund.
You may be denied rental for reasons including, but not limited to the following:
- Previous driving disqualifications.
- Pending prosecution or police investigation.
- Convictions for offenses relating to theft, fraud or dishonesty.
- Involved in an at-fault accident within the last 5 years.
- Involved in more than 1 accident in the last 3 years.
- Defective vision.
Forms of Identification
Valid photo ID (passport or national ID). | | EARLY RETURN | | No refunds (partial or full) will be given for rentals ended early including the purchase of ancillary items, late collections, no shows or cancellations made after the rental start date. | | EMERGENCY INFO | | Emergency contact information is provided in the U-Save rental jacket. | | EQUIPMENT | | Hand Controls and baby/child seats may be available on a request basis only, and must be requested at least 24hrs in advance.
Responsibility for the installation of child/ baby seats rests with the renter and will not be installed by U-Save employees. | | FUEL | | U-Save operates a full-to-full Fuel Policy; renters are requested to return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as was supplied at the time of rental.
Missing fuel will be charged 9.99 USD per gallon and an additional refueling fee may be applied.
You may be required to leave a fuel deposit reserved on your credit card which will be released when you return the car with same amount of fuel. Missing fuel will be charged on your return. The price per gallon charged by the rental agent may be significantly higher than the price at the local service station. | | GEOGRAPHIC | | Unlimited mileage is restricted to travel within Connecticut only. If vehicle is taken outside of Connecticut, an additional charge of 50 cents per mile will be applied to all mileage on the rental. | | LOCAL RENTERS | | Local Renters – if using a debit card for rental, a 500usd deposit will be required along with proof of residency | | NO-SHOWS | | Reservations will be held for 3 hours from the specified reservation time after which they will be classed as a no-show. If the renter arrives after this time or if the rental station closes in the interim, then a vehicle is not guaranteed. U-Save will do everything possible to provide a vehicle. This may include offering a different vehicle and rates may be different to the original booking. In the event of a no-show, the booking is non-refundable.
Flight numbers provided are for informational purposes only. It is the responsibility of the renter to inform the location of any delays. | | ONE-WAY | | One way rentals are not permitted at this location. | | PREPAID DEBIT CARDS | | Prepaid debit/credit cards, gift cards, or electronic use cards are not accepted. | | SHUTTLE | | U-Save Meriden, CT is located at 380 South Broad Street, Meriden, CT, 6450. If you require assistance, please call 203-626-2757. | | SMOKING | | A strict no smoking and vaping policy is in place for all vehicles. If you have smoked or allowed smoking within the vehicle, charges will apply. This includes allowing cigarette, cigar, or marijuana smoke or ash into the vehicle, which would imply the above. A minimum fee of 250 USD will apply. | | TOLL ROADS AND FEES | | If the renter receives any tolls, parking, red light etc. they will be held responsible to pay the violation plus a $29 admin fee for EACH violation incurred during the time of rental. U-Save will charge the renter`s debit/card on file before contacting the renter. All copies of the violations may be sent upon request of the renter. This is also list in section 10 of the U-Save rental jacket. |
